We're in the final days of the 2011 Friends of Scouting Campaign.  Our Troop goal is $5,600.  As of 2/1 we're $390 away from our goal.  There is still time to pledge.  The Mustang District plans on wrapping this campaign up by the end of February.

Monday night - PLC ideas

E-mail Print

Please pass this info along to your scout…

At Monday’s troop meeting (January 30th, which happens to be Merit Badge class night)… before the end of the night, all patrols will have time to work on collectively assembling ideas which your patrol representatives will bring to the PLC meeting on Sunday 2/5.

These ideas should be what the scouts would like to do at future troop meetings, extra-curricular activities, campout themes, etc.

Each patrol should be prepared to bring at least 5 ideas to the PLC meeting.

Start thinking!!!

Thanks, Kyle

Bike High Adventure

Troop 370 Bicyclists:  As shared during our last troop & parents' meetings, it's time to plan our June-2012 Paul Bunyan High Adventure Bike Trek.  In summary, the Paul Bunyan Trail is a 110-mile paved bike trail that runs between Brainerd & Bemidji (Minnesota). For more info, check out the weblink to the Paul Bunyan Trail:  http://paulbunyantrail.com

This June 8-10 (Fri-Sun / after school is out!) high adventure is designed to be more challenging than our annual 25-mile troop biking campout.  Adults & Scouts are invited to sign-up who are able to bicycle 50 miles (and most of our older scouts should be able to complete this ride with perhaps a little prep); suggested minimum age limits are 13 years.

Such a 50-mile biking opportunity allows participants to satisfy the longest ride requirement for the Cycling MB.  Our scouts can complete this ride requirement over a scenic, paved (yes "paved"!) route in a safe atmosphere.

After our crew is assembled, we will plan our route and logistics while staying two nights at nearby campgrounds.  Similar to our past Elroy Sparta event, bike checks and "prep" rides (that also count for Cycling MB mileage rides) will help prepare us for a "more enjoyable" 50-mile excursion [and, a Boy Scout is "prepared"].

Some have already shared their interest.  PLEASE RESPOND NOW TO THIS E-MAIL WITH YOUR PLANS TO PARTICIPATE.  TO HOLD A SPOT, $25 commitment fees will be due Feb 13, 2012 and we will reserve campsites shortly thereafter.  Further event planning will occur during March-2012.

Last, this is a continuation of troop biking activities that we discussed before, during and after our fun Elroy Sparta trek last May.  Based on continuing troop support, we'd like to offer a minimum of one biking high adventure trek each year.

Scout Sunday

It is that time of year again.  The Boy Scouts of America was founded on 8 Feb 1910. So, they pick the closest weekend to that (now traditional Super Bowl Sunday) to celebrate their "Duty to God" with Scout Sunday/ Scout Sabbath.  Troop 370 will be hosting a reception after the 9am service at Pax Christi on 5 Feb 2012.  You are all welcome to attend the service and recruiting afterwards at the reception. We will be debuting our new troop video at this event.  You can also participate in the service (Greeter, Lector, gift bearer, etc.) in uniform- just contact me and I'll plug you in.  If you can't attend at Pax, please wear your uniform at your own place of worship that weekend.
