Summer Camp Badges

E-mail Print

To all Parents and friends of the troop, We have begun planning the Summer Camp program and are looking for adult (over 18) volunteers to teach merit badges at camp this year. We usually offer over two dozen choices for the boys and would love you to get involved. You’re ‘class’ would be held each of 6 days for over an hour each day.  We have offered the usual camp skills badges (cooking, camping, etc), water related (rowing, sailing, swimming), craft (leatherwork, woodcarving, etc)  and skill offerings (archery, shotgun, etc).  But, we’ve also offered a bit more academics things as well (chemistry, computers, etc.).  Basically, if you have an interest and you can teach it under a tarp or in the great outdoors- we need you. If you have taught in the past and would like to teach again, let me know which badges you’d like to do this year.  I will not assume anyone’s continual involvement- please confirm your wishes with me directly. If you have never taught before, it is simple and rather painless because you are usually demonstrating something you already love (or at least know how) to do.  If you will be at camp the whole week (or a major part of it) you are a great teaching candidate.  Even if you come up for only part of the week, we can have you team teach or assist. Bring your skills and interest to me and we’ll plug you in to the program. Badges not offered in some time, but fitting for camp, include: Weather, Leatherwork, Reptile/Amphibian Study, Nature, Mammal Study, Forestry, and Fire Safety. But, many more of the over 100 badges could be adapted for, or at least started at, camp.  Please send me you intentions by catching  me at one of the weekly meetings or reply by email to:  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
