We have a scheduled Troop 370 High Adventure bike ride this October and it's time to identify general interest for those who'd like to participate. Here's some summary info.
Elroy Sparta Bike Trail - crushed gravel on old railroad bed with several tunnels - the longest of which is 2 miles! More on-line details about Elroy-Sparta: http://dnr.wi.gov/org/land/parks/specific/elroysparta/
When: October 21 - 24, 2010 (during MEA Weekend when our schools will be closed)
Daily Ride Expectations: 30 to +60 mile/day rides (will determine miles based on rider composition)
Minimum Participant Ages: 14 years old (please advise of 13 yr old interest if able to ride +30 mile days)
Equipment: Recommend "hybrid" (mountain+road) cross-bikes with 27cc min. tire width (no road bikes).
[ Ride Planning: We'd like to assess interest to develop preliminary ride expectations and campground reservation needs. We may also need adult SAG support for those willing to transport bikes and possibly move tents/equipment between campsites, without riding bikes. [Adults can participate as either riders or SAG drivers.] If you would like to participate in planning, good meals are a big thing during "athletic activities" and there are several side trip attractions in the area.
Accordingly, please respond with your preliminary interest to participate on this fun high adventure trip ASAP this month. Please respond to me at:
