Aaron M. Nicklay, January 1994

My Eagle Scout Service Project was for the Eden Prairie Cemetary on County Rd 4 (Eden Prairie Rd.).  I organized a group of Scouts, parents, leaders, and a few people from the community to clean up a parcel of land that the cemetary had recently acquired as part of a land swap with a neighboring housing development.  This parcel of land had previously been the corner of three different properties and had become, over the years, a dumping ground for a variety of old farm equipment, rocks, deadfall, and other garbage.  The goal of my project was to bring this piece of land up to the grooming standard of the rest of the cemetary, and to prepare it to be used for burial plots.  We cleaned out, hauled away, and disposed of all of the garbage and then trimmed up the trees.  The rocks were hauled over to the other side of the cemetary to use as a deterrent to erosion near the well, and then we hacked out all of the weeds and trash trees.  After that, we leveled out the ground and seeded it with grass seed and clover.

I'm currently living in Bloomington and have been employed by the Northern Star Council, Boy Scouts of America for the last 10 years, currently as a District Director, and am getting married this coming summer.
