Merit Badges

E-mail Print

To achieve the rank of Eagle, a scout must attain a minimum of 21 Merit Badges. 13 of these 21 (First Aid, Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the World, Communications, Personal Fitness, Emergency Preparedness OR Lifesaving, Environmental Science, Personal Management, Swimming OR Hiking OR Cycling, Camping, and Family Life) are Eagle Required Merit Badges. Scouts have the option to chose from over 100 other Merit Badges to fulfill the last 8 Merit Badges that are needed to receive the rank of Eagle.

The requirements for a Merit Badge are unique for each Merit Badge but often consist of reading a Merit Badge Book, sometimes some outside research and/or a “field trip” to a rifle range or a golf course, and completing a Merit Badge Worksheet.
