•1.      Scoutmaster Report.  Don Richard reported that the April campout at Frontenac was cold and windy, but the FastTrack Scouts all completed the work for their Chits.  May campout was a work weekend at Voyager Bay.  There were 12 scouts and 6 adults at the campout and they completed clearing for additional tent pads, as well as cleared more area by the swimming beach and the shooting range.

We had an Eagle Court of Honor in May.  Ian Sullivan has his Eagle Board of Review scheduled.  Additionally, we have several scouts ready to make their proposals for their Eagle Projects including, but not limited to, Jonathan Vlasic, Jake Knecht and Ben Gloege.  Matt Norgren is currently working to complete his project.

Den 479 is looking for Den Chief.  It would be really wonderful if a scout would volunteer to fulfill this role.

John Northrup is working with Pack 215 who needs our assistance next weekend at their campout at Lake Rebecca.  We will be providing four stations (Bike Repair, Fire Safety, Knots and Compass).  More adults and boys are needed for this Sat. event.  The crew will be leaving Pax Christi at 8:30 a.m. with the intent on returning to Pax Christi by 5:30 p.m.  Please let John know if you are interested in participating.

Don requested space for storage within Pax Christi and is uncertain when we might have the space available.  He will clarify the response.

The troop is looking for suggestions of a place to stop on the way to summer camp.  Last year they stopped at the Native American Museum and the prior year at the mine.  Additional suggestions would be appreciated.  The troop will be upgrading the trailers with shelves while we are at summer camp.  A much needed improvement.

June campout is the 20th - 22nd and will be canoeing at St. Croix.  We need permission slips returned as soon as possible to ensure that we have appropriate accommodations for the crew.

Don will be arranging a trip to Northern Tier for summer 2009.  Please contact him if you are interested in attending.

Don received a list of OA members from council and will provide the information as to outstanding dues.

Finally, Troop 597 is looking to do activities with our troop.  Are we interested?

Tim Lenker recently had a "heart incident" and has undergone treatment.  He is doing well, but ask that everyone keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

•2.      Treasurer's Report.  Total assets $19,849.30.  Scout account total $6,767.11. Overall balance $13,082.19.  Summer Camp registration is due on June 9th.  The cost this year is expected to be $190 with additional fees for select Merit Badges.  Joleen and Margie ask that you complete the packet as soon as possible and send the money in so that they may be able to begin shopping for groceries, as they anticipate starting the cooking soon.  Scouts can use funds in their accounts to fund summer camp.

As a reminder, the troop does pay some of the expenses associated with the Eagle Court of Honor.  Specifically, basic invites, but not printing, Awards, Sheet Cake and Punch.  All other expenses including decorating are the responsibility of the family.

Finally, as previously reported, the troop will pay for any adult training, however we will only pay the expense upon completion of the course.

•3.      Quartermaster's Report.  No gear update

•4.      Camping Update.  May 17, will be the previously discussed campout for Pack 215 at Lake Rebecca.  June campout will be canoeing at St. Croix.  In preparation of that campout we will have a Swim Qualification on Tuesday, June 3rd at 7 p.m. at the Eden Prairie Community Center.

•5.      High Adventure Update.  Jim Vlasic has confirmed the Isle Royale high adventure trip on June 8 - 15.  There is currently one slot open for this trip and the cost is $165.

The Mountaineering Trip is full and plane tickets have been purchased.  This trip will take place beginning August 8.

Carl Patow and Jamie Dillon have planned a trip to the Appalachian Trail for June 13 - 20, 2009.  A detailed packet regarding the trip was provided.  Please let Jamie or Carl know if you are interested in joining on this trip.

Don previously reported on the 2009 Northern Tier Trip.

•6.      Eagle Update.  Matt Norgren is collecting sports equipment and has asked for scout assistance this weekend for services at St. Andrews.  There will also be an opportunity to assist with sorting of the equipment the weekend on May 23rd and 24th.

Jake Knecht reported that he is pursuing building a boat rack at Voyager Bay for his project.  He is working with Aaron to obtain specifics for the project.

•7.      Advancement and Merit Badges.  Caroline reported that we have two boys, Harrison and Dylan, who have completed advancement to 2nd Class.   Caroline provided a list of current Merit Badge Counselors and where we needed additional counselors.  In addition, she provided the forms to be completed to sign up to be a counselor.  Paul Skoog indicated that all Merit Badge Counselors must be confirmed annually.  Additionally, Paul indicated that previous registered adults will be contacted by mail requesting their Social Security Number for the records of the Northstar council.  Blue cards and Board of Reviews will be due June 16th  in anticipation of the June 23rd Court of Honor.

•8.      Records.   Kathy Farr had nothing to report

•9.      Service Projects.  Jay Biedny reported that Scouting for Food was a huge success.  He had no other service projects to report on.

•10.  Roundtable & Order of the Arrow.  Jamie reported that we had submitted 3 boys and 1 adult for inclusion in the Order of the Arrow.  There is a scout day at Valley Fair on June 7th, see Jamie for details.

•11.  Summer Camp Update.  Physicals are needed for the boys (every 3 years) prior to summer camp.  Additionally, adults are required to complete a physical form and must update their physical each year after attaining age 40.

Jay reported that they will have 30 Merit Badges offered at summer camp and he will be working with the boys to get them registered for the appropriate Merit Badges.  Adults are encouraged to attend camp, even for a part of the week and can assist with Merit Badges while at camp.

Respectfully submitted,

Lori Helmer
