Tom Ryan is looking into scheduling outdoor activities. In August we will pick up the issue of filling vacant volunteer slots for the Troop. Turn in all of your health forms for Summer Camp tonight.

Service Projects – Mary Puchalski. There is a PROP (People Reaching Out to Other People) service activity that will take place shortly after Summer Camp. PROP is looking for donations of gently used clothing. They are in desperate need of boys’ clothes, specifically summer clothes; shorts, short sleeved shirts, and swimsuits.

Scoutmaster Report – Tom Ryan. Turn in your health forms to Nancy Nicklay. Tom spoke to the scouts about wearing their uniforms. They need to wear them Saturday morning on the trip up to Voyager Bay. We will be leaving Pax around 9am. The August campout is at Schoolcraft State Park, August 12-14. Voyager Bay is the alternative if the State Parks are still shut down.

Eagle Scout Project – Brian Duerfeldt. Brian’s Eagle Project consists of assembling World Rehydration Therapy packets for children in developing countries who are afflicted with diarrhea. The packets include salt and sugar among other things. Pizza and pop will be served. Brian needs at least 24 people to sign up in advance. Assembly will take place Monday, July 25th from 5pm to 9pm at St. Andrew upstairs in the Fellowship Hall.

Summer Camp – Aaron Nicklay. Our troop has been getting ready for camp over the last six months. This is the highlight of the Boy Scout year. When scouting was created Summer Camp was the first outing. This tradition continues. The experience we provide at camp will hopefully be superior. Departure: gather at Pax in the lower lot between 8:30am and 9:00am. Gear will need to be loaded onto the troop trailer, forms handed in to Nancy, prescriptions will need to be handed in, etc. Departure from Pax will be 9:30am sharp. Arrival at camp should be between 1pm and 1:30pm. The drive is three hours with 45 minutes extra for lunch break. Stay together as a group, stop for lunch as a group.

Summer Camp Continued – Aaron Nicklay.

Prescriptions/Medicine - Jeninne McGee is the point person on Saturday to collect medicine. All medicine must be in the original bottle with instructions. Alert Jeninne to possible reactions to medicine. If your family has decided to deviate from the original instructions, include these changes in written form with the original bottle. Do not change medications at camp. Epi pens and inhalers need to be kept on the scout’s person.

Youth Protection Training - According to Jefferson Spilman 16 adults have not completed Youth Protection training. His records may not be up to date so contact Jefferson if you’ve taken Youth Protection training in the last 12 months and you haven’t told him about it. Please reprint your certificate and send it to Jefferson.

Merit Badge Supplies – We’re good, everyone has what they need.

No Sandals – no open toed shoes, not shoes with open spots, slots, spaces, etc. Tennis shoes and boots are good.

Family Visitors & Dogs – If families come up they must stay in the family area in the parking lot. If you need to bring your dog it needs to be on a leash and cleaned up after.

Health Forms – Must complete the long form for a trip more than 72 hours. Turn forms in to John Phillipi prior to departure on Saturday.

Lunch Money – Scouts need to bring a sack lunch or money for lunch on the way up to camp and on the way back from camp. McDonald’s and Subway are available.

No Cell phones. No electronics.

Packing – watch what your child packs to make sure that he is prepared for the week.

Arriving Home – Estimated departure time from camp is 10am and arrival time to Pax is 2pm. The kids need to take home a tent or tarp. The item needs to be opened up, aired out, and dried out. Prior to going home, scouts need to divide up the gear from the troop trailer when the trailer arrives at Pax.

While at Voyager Bay – If you come and go from camp you must check in with Dave Weaver our camp director. If you can’t find Dave then contact someone with a radio so they can tell Dave. He needs to keep a tight lid on the number of people in camp, both adults and scouts.

Snacks & Food – Do not bring snacks or food of any kind. No food in tents, trying to keep the critters away.

Pre-Crew – Will be leaving Thursday morning around 9am. Meet at Mike Links’ parent’s house. Those attending will be taking as much stuff as possible and getting camp set up and ready for scouts arrival. If you plan to attend Pre-Crew keep in mind that no kids are allowed, heavy equipment will be in use, there will be felling trees, and many vehicles driving around camp. If you plan to go but haven’t signed up for Pre-Crew already, Aaron needs to know you’re coming. Meals for Pre-Crew are provided except for Friday night you need to bring your own meat to grill. Sides will be provided the meat will not. This is a Non-scouting event.
