IMPORTANT DATES/THINGS TO KNOW

 

Friends of Scouting (FOS): Friends of scouting campaigned kicked off for 2011-12. Pledge cards were distributed at the meeting. Please consider a pledge to help our troop meet its FOS goal.    

 

 Camping this weekend 11/11-13 at Phillipo: Meet at PAX 5:30 PM currently have 8 adults and 11 scouts attending. Questions contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Pick up Wreath and Popcorn orders 11/19 at PAX starting at 9 am North Parking Lot: We also will need volunteers for set up and helping with distribution during pick up.

 

Church Sales of Wreaths 11/19 &20: We need scouts in class A’s for wreaths sales before and after evening mass on 11/19 and morning masses 11/20.

 

Webelos Climbing Event at Base Camp 11/20 5-8 pm: Parents and 370 scouts are encouraged to attend and help generate a positive experience for guests and to have fun. Engineering Merit Badge Field Trip 11/28 meet at PAX at 6:30 or at PPSI at 7pm: If your son started but hasn’t completed the engineering merit badge this trip will help them. PPSI is located at 494 and Hwy 55 (in Plymouth, not Eagan).  To get there, head north on 494, exit at County Road 6. Make a right on to CR 6 then immediately get in the left lane to head north on Annapolis Lane North. Go past Kwik Trip and Home Depot about a quarter mile to a stop sign. Turn left on Industrial Park Blvd (toward 494). Turn left into the second driveway and we are the second suite on the left. We will have maps available at the next scout meetings. 

 Roundtable 12/1 at 7pm, First Thursday of the Month. For those of you interested in learning or participating more about district and council. You can attend the monthly roundtable at Christ Presbyterian Church, in the downstairs main meeting hall, at 7PM to 8:30PMCPC is located at West 70th Street and MN Highway 100 on the East side of the highway. OA scouts are invited to an OA meeting at this time.

 

Service Opportunity at PAX Boutique 12/2 &3: 12/2 help is needed in the evening for set up. 12/3 help is needed during the event at PAX.

Court of Honor (COH) 12/18, 1-3 pm PAX Gym

Blue Card and Advancement deadline to make December COH 12/12: This COH is pot luck. The assignments for food are:

Salads – SpiderRay/Owl & Panthers

Main Dishes – Spider Monkeys, Buffalos, & Python/Dachshunds

Desserts - Chickens

 

Awards Dinner 2/2/12 Save the date. Location TBD We can nominate our own hardworking adult volunteers for awards. We have a great troop so let’s recognize each other. Nominations are being taken NOW, The deadline to turn in nominations is January. Go to mustangnsbsa.org for details.

 

Summer Camp Meetings starting 1/30/12

 

 

 

TROOP BUSINESS 

 Troop Committee: Rechartering is coming up. We will be evaluating our policy on chartering alumni. We would like to sponsors only active alumni. This will reduce the fees we pay for recharter.

 

Troop trailer basics were covered in at roundtable. There was also a contact given for trailer maintenance that will give a discounted price on repairs.

 

Scoutmaster Update: Notes from latest PLC meeting are available on our website.  Elections were held and new positions were sent email blast. Leadership position tenure will be capped at 1 year. If your son is elected to a patrol or troop leadership position and you want information on expectations for the PLC roles, contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. We had at one time a practice of assigning adults to guide each patrol. If you are assigned to a patrol or want to take an assignment, contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it   to help revive this practice.

 

Treasurer Report:  Total cash $13,409.49. Boys account total $5,150.60. This does not yet include fundraising dollars.

 

Camping: Camping calendar will soon be published on the website.

 

High Adventure: Okpi, February 2012, now has a full crew and waiting list.

Two potential 2013 trips exist. Gettysburg is currently being planned and will soon open for deposits We also have the potential to plan a Philmont trip in 2013.Both trips have enough initial interest for crews.

Quartermaster: No update

 

Recruiting: Halloween walk was a very successful recruiting event with 9 Webelos attending. Webelos are also invited to our 12/5 meeting and the 12/18 COH. We also have a Sledding event on 1/16  at Staring Lake Hill.

 

Eagle Updates - projects coming up: We have an eagle project for late Nov. This scout will collect clothes for senior citizens at PAX. He will be looking for scouts to volunteer to hand out flyers at the church prior to the collection date and also to collect and sort the items. More details coming.

 

Another project is coming this spring in Minnetonka to help protect Big Woods from deer.
