IMPORTANT DATES/THINGS TO KNOW
Friends of Scouting (FOS): Friends of scouting campaign kicked off for 2011-12. Pledge cards were distributed at the meeting. Please consider a pledge to help our troop meet its FOS goal. Our troop benefits from meeting our goals by getting merit badges and advancement item costs covered. We are a little over halfway to our goal. The campaign wraps up in April so make your pledge soon.

1/14-15/12 CPR and Wilderness First Aid training for registered participant PAX
1/16/12 MLK Sledding Event at Staring Lake Hill: This recruiting event is fun for Webelos and our scouts. If there is no snow we will be swimming at Oak Point Intermediary School, 13400 Staring Lake Pkwy. An email will be sent Saturday to let us know if we are sledding or swimming. Hope you can come. 1/20-22 Campout Wild River (Skiing), PAX at 5:30: This is a winter campout so it is important that scouts have cold weather gear. The troop website troop370.net has information on winter camping and packing tips in the files section. Ski equipment is available for rental.
1/30/12 Summer Camp Meetings starting, 7pm at PAX.
2/2/12 District Awards Dinner, St. Andrews Eden, Prairie: We can nominate our own hardworking adult volunteers for awards. We have a great troop so let’s recognize each other. The deadline to turn in nominations is 1/15/12. Bring side dish or dessert to reduce cost to $5. You can register early or pay at the door. The theme is Wild West. Go to mustangnsbsa.org for details.
2/5/12 Scout Sunday, PAX 9 am Mass (or your place of worship): Scouts are invited to wear their uniforms and participate in scout Sunday at their place of worship. Scouts that participate in Scout Sunday at PAX or elsewhere, you will receive a patch.

TROOP BUSINESS
Troop Committee: We approved $100 for Grey Wolf Staff Participation for 1 youth and up to $150 was allocated for food for Scout Sunday.
Re-chartering was due tonight. The cost is $40 is fundraising goal was met and $115 if fundraising goal of $75 was not met.

Treasurer Report: Total cash $23, 198.16. Boys account total is $9,750.29. Troop total is $13,447.87.
2011Highlight: 37% of spending ($2,849) was for Monthly Camping and Activities
17% was for equipment ($1,206)
17% was for merit Badge Supplies, Merit Badges and Awards ($1,222)
6% was re-charter ($421)
3% was training ($307)
2% was the PAX Wall ($127)
18% was other Misc expenses (COH, printing, etc.)

High Adventure: Okpi, February 2012, now has a full crew and waiting list. Final payment is due.

Paul Bunyan trail bike trip is an option for people looking for a biking experience that would help achieve the longer rides needed for the biking merit badge. Rides could be at least 50 miles.
We are on the waiting list for Philmont 2013 but my get a spot if there are enough cancellations.

High Adventure is looking for ideas for a trip for spring 2013.
Advancement: 2011 Re-cap. We had 112 merit badges across 37 merit badge titles which is about 2.3 badges per scout. We had 22 rank advancements and spent $285.21 on advancement.
For scouts looking to earn merit badges, check out scoutmasterbucky.com. They host sessions to cover requirements for a variety of badges, including some eagle required badges. The cost is usually $5-$10 for a session and many badges can be completed in one session.
Quartermaster: An inventory was done on 1/7. We have 3 functional stoves, and 15 tents. Equipment will be assigned by troll and stored in the shed for check out and check in. If you have any troop equipment, especially stoves, please return them.

Order O f the Arrow: Vigil nominations due. Check the website for forms and instructions. OA winter banquet is 1/14. Save the date for NOAC – National OA Conference July 31- August 4, 2012. The fee is $500 and includes lodging, food, and transportation. Currently 4 scouts and 1 adult from our troop are registered to attend.
