Voyager Bay Scout Camp has been the home of Troop 370's summer camp experience since the summer of 1995. This summer (2014), we will be celebrating 20 years of independent summer camping.
Voyager Bay is located just north of Outing, MN on the shores of Lake Washburn, and in the heart of the Land 'O Lakes State Forest. Donated in the 1950's to Sheppard of the Lakes Church in Edina, MN, the camp is currently shared by Troops 370 and 347 from Eden Prairie, and Troop 123 from Edina. The property itself is a diverse mixture of old and new forests, swamps, lakes, and fields. It hosts a large variety of birds, deer, mosquitoes, squirrels, rabbits fox, and many other wild animals.
Voyager Bay features all of the amenities one expects from a Scout camp including rifle, shotgun, and archery shooting ranges, a climbing and challenge course, orienteering courses, scout-craft area, campfire bowl, swimming and boating beach, 15 secluded and spacious campsites are set throughout the camp to allow for a camping & experience focused on nature and the out of doors. The camp also features several programs and unique opportunities including access to thousands of acres of adjoining forest land, the local fire tower and fish hatchery, and it's own metal working shop. Added to Voyager Bay just this last year were improved instruction areas as well two reinforced storm shelters.
Improvements to camp and all programs are operated by Troop 370's parents, leaders, volunteers, and alumni. Work parties are organized two or three times a year, and planning for the week long summer camp experience begins in February. Troop 370 alumni have experience with this Camp going back to the 1960's and help to guide the future of camp, as well as keep the past alive.
